UBB Pharma British and Irish Isles Bone team complete Tough Mudder for charity
On the evening of 12th October, 21 brave but foolish souls from the UCB PHARMA British and Irish Isles Bone team collectively completed the scary and intimidating 5K Tough Mudder course on Clapham Common, London to raise awareness of #WorldOsteoporosisDay. The intimidating course with 13 strategically placed energy sapping, pulse racing, adrenalin inducing obstacles challenged this unprepared team physically and mentally.
The team completed the course in full together in 1 hour 20 mins and during this time all participants had numerous moments where they found themselves totally out of their comfort zones, showing their vulnerabilities and their dependency on colleagues to complete the course together. An already great team spirit grew even stronger throughout the evening and the relief, pride and joy was there for all to see at the finishing line.
This ambitious effort as well as raising awareness of #WorldOsteoporosisDay on October 20, also created an opportunity to raise funds for the following charities – The Irish Osteoporosis Society and The National Osteoporosis Society. €7,000 has been raised so far through generous family, friends and UCB colleagues of which half will be donated to the IOS.
