Volunteer for the IOS

Do you have a couple of hours a week, a month or a year that you could help the Irish Osteoporosis Society Charity?

Due to the fact that so few people are diagnosed, the Charity has very few volunteers. If you check out our Patient Stories on the homepage of this website, you will see that most people who contact us are not in a position to volunteer.

We need your help to increase the amount of people (280,000) who have undiagnosed Osteoporosis and are at very high risk of losing their independence.

How can you help us to help you and your family?

  • Like us on Facebook and/or Twitter.

  • Pass on our e newsletter to family, friends and work colleagues.

  • Pass on our Osteoporosis Facts sheet to family, friends and work colleagues.

  • If your company or club have health talks for members, please pass on our details.

  • If you or a family member, friend, or work colleague enters marathons, can you ask if they would consider running on behalf of the IOS?

  • Could you hold a fundraiser for us once a year? A coffee morning/ cake sale is the traditional option. Or maybe you could host a presentation from the Charity where people attending could donate?

  • Do you know someone who enters cycling events? The Co-Operation Ireland Maracycle is on at the end of June. Currently the Charity does not have anyone cycling on our behalf.

  • Have you or someone you know always wanted to do a skydive? Michele O’Brien from the IOS is organising a fundraising skydive this October to help raise awareness of this silent condition.
More information about this event will be available soon but it's not too early to start thinking about it!
